Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Degrees (EMJMD) Scholarships

The EU distinguishes two categories of students: students from a Programme Country and students from a Partner Country.

Programme Country students are students originating from one of the EU Member States, North Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Turkey.

Partner Country students are students from all other countries, unless they were residents or have carried out their main activity (studies, training or work) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in one or more Programme Countries. In the latter case, these students are also classified as Programme Country students.

The AFEPA consortium offers a limited number of EMJMD scholarships which include:

  • a contribution to the students’ participation costs including the tuition fees, library and laboratory costs, full insurance coverage and any other mandatory costs related to the students’ participation in the Master;
  • a contribution to student travel and installation costs;
  • a monthly subsistence allowance for the entire duration of the EMJMD study programme.

Contribution to participation costs

  • up to 9 000 EUR per year per scholarship holder from a Partner Country
  • up to 4 500 EUR per year per scholarship holder from a Programme Country

Contributions to participation costs are charged directly by the AFEPA Consortium and are not transferred to the scholarship beneficiaries. Living expenses (e.g., accommodation) and travel expenses are not covered by the participation costs.

Contribution to the travel and installation costs

Partner Country students 2.000 EUR/year if place of residence is less than 4 000km the AFEPA coordinator (University of Bonn)

Contribution to subsistence costs

Contribution to subsistence costs will not be given to the scholarship holders for the EMJMD periods (study/research/placement/thesis preparation) spent in their country of residence, nor to scholarship holders from a Partner Country for the EMJMD periods exceeding one trimester (i.e. 3 months or the equivalent of 15 ECTS credits) spent in any Partner Country.
